You love to surf the internet, who doesn’t anyway?  But for every second that you surf the internet, your computer is at risk for virus infection.  This couldn’t be truer when your computer doesn’t have the essential protection to be safe from the nasty infection.

Your operating system releases updates to make sure that your computer is protected and secured from threats including virus attacks.  The updates are one way to guarantee that your operating system is free from loopholes that viruses may use to enter your system.  Make sure that you enable the automatic update of your operating system or when your system notifies you to update, do so.
Another essential protection in your operating system is the firewall.  The firewall acts as filter that determines what goes in and out of your computer.  You just have to make sure that the firewall is enabled in your computer and that there is no exception unless very necessary.  For added protection, you can install a third party firewall at your discretion.
